The Traditional style is the perfect combination of comfortable and classic design. Incorporating the design elements from a variety of centuries, most notably the 18th and 19th centuries, this style blends warm and rich inviting colors with pieces of classic art, antiques, and history. While balance and symmetry are important in traditional style, the style also showcases curves and designs, without being extremely elaborate or grandiose.
When designing a bathroom or kitchen space in the tradition style it’s important to remember a few key things. Embrace the soft curves; the traditional style tends to steer away from the sharp edges and angles you would find in more modern designs. You see this reflected in the shape of freestanding bathtubs in bathrooms – or similarly, the shape of sinks or countertops in kitchens. Colors are important; pretty floral patterns are very popular in traditional design but it’s important to not take it over the top. In most cases the traditional design pairs a neutral color palette with light pops of color. Symmetry is key; Symmetry is standard in all traditional design as it is soothing to the eyes, promoting a sense of calm and relaxation and most importantly, provides balance and order within a layout.
