With an architectural degree from Wellesley College and MIT, and a master’s in interior design from the KLC School of Design in London, Lisa Miao has a deep understanding of both trades. Her eye for art, style and meticulous attention to detail have solidified her firm as a go-to for personalized interiors of understated luxury and cool. In this month’s Designer Takeover, Lisa’s Refined Farmhouse kitchen perfectly embodies her signature elegant and sophisticated aesthetic.

Lisa selected Kohler ’s new Farmstead sink in black as the focal point of the kitchen. It may be a traditional apron-front model, but the legs give the sink a contemporary update. She paired it with Rohl’s Perrin and Rowe Georgian Era bridge faucet with side spray in polished nickel. The polished nickel pops against warm grey color scheme accented by fresh white tones.

In addition to the bridge faucet, Lisa selected Rohl’s Italian wall mount pot filler also in polished nickel. The pot filler, both functional and attractive, looks great above the CliqStudios cabinets. The cabinets will feature Top Knobs’ spectrum knob, a part of the transcend collection. Since no kitchen is complete without a bar, Lisa added Kallista’s Bacifiore bar sink by MickDegiulio and paired it with Rohl’s Italian Kitchen San Julio C Spout filter faucet.
To create the perfect canvas for a refined farmhouse kitchen, Lisa pulled fabrics from Romo, Hermès by Dedar, Elizabeth Eakins, and Holland & Sherry. She also mulled over the addition of Romo wallpaper and various tiles from Ann Sacks, Tilebar, and Porcelanosa. Lisa selected many potential options for the cabinet hardware, some from Nanz Hardware and other from the Top Knobs Transcend collection, specifically, the latches and ascendra pulls. The fixtures, such as the kitchen sink and tapware, reference traditional shapes through a modern lens that dispense with overwrought ornamentation in favor of the familiar yet fresh.
