The balance between beauty and function is the foundation for Nicole Hogarty’s designs. Nicole, who is our featured designer of the month, believes all projects offer different challenges and varied aesthetics, but, a successful design is finding that perfect balance. The kitchen she designed using products from Splash’s showroom is no exception. Read about how this award-winning design studio owner and former President of IFDA’s New England chapter and created her Contemporary Urban Living kitchen.

For the kitchen sink, Nicole chose the Kallista Multiere Sink with Deluxe Accessories. The accessories on this versatile sink allow for aesthetically pleasing, multi-tiered storage, perfect for any kitchen environment. Nicole paired the sink with Dornbracht’s Lot Faucet with Side Spray. “Think of a kitchen faucet as an appliance. Regardless of whether you cook every day, you touch your faucet every day.” In addition to the sink and faucet, Nicole added Dornbracht’s Wall Mount Pot Filler for convenience.

This Contemporary Urban Living kitchen was inspired by Nicole’s love of working in urban environments. She is based out of Boston, but takes on projects throughout New England, New York and is currently working on a project in Charleston, South Carolina. She explains “since we do a great deal of work in the city, my thoughts went to a sophisticated open floor plan urban space. A space that works well when we blur the lines between a functional kitchen to an informal dining or living space. When at first glance, you may not realize you are looking at a kitchen.”
To complete her design, Nicole chose Ann Sacks’ Ogassian Japanese Weave tile as her backsplash and Apollinaire Pendants from Jonathan Browning. As for the cabinets, she decided on Purbeck Stone and Down Pipe paint from Farrow & Ball, and Studio Line No. 8233 hardware from Nanz Hardware.
