This month our featured designer is the talented Jill Litner Kaplan of Jill Litner Kaplan Interiors. Jill has been a force in the Boston design industry for the past fifteen years and understands the importance of capturing a client’s desired aesthetic when taking on a project. We were honored to witness her inspiration board for this bathroom project come together.
Jill’s design aesthetic for this bathroom was “Clean and Chic.” After initially selecting Bain Ultra’s beautiful Nokori bathtub, Jill paired it with Dornbracht’s Lulu freestanding tub filler. The two Duravit mirrors were to be placed above Robern’s glass-front illuminated make-up vanity, which would be installed alongside a matching double vanity (shown in the image as a single). This created the “crisp, bright and white” look Jill wanted to encapsulate. The two Kohler Verticyl sinks in combination with the Dornbracht Imo faucets were a perfect design compliment to the Duravit Starck II toilet. Jill explains, “the white glossy lacquer linear bathtub compliments the lines of the his-and-her vanities and the matching make-up mirror table.”
As for the shower, Jill selected two Dornbracht shower valves so both a regular and rain shower head can be used. In the shower, she envisioned a modern Lacava shower stool, and the Vogue Modern Collection towel warmer for right outside, adding a little extra luxury.
After Jill selected her products she sourced interlocking circle mosaic tile, called Filix Sky and White Carrara Marble Mosaic from Ideal Tile for the flooring. The Burlington Grey polished marble was picked for a staggered horizontal pattern on the walls, along with Benjamin Moore’s Thundercloud Gray shade. Bringing some grey into the otherwise white and chrome bathroom provided depth to the design. “The floor is a timeless and graphic pattern of concentric circles, and the walls have some drama and scale with a staggered large-scale subway tile going up the walls and on the ceiling.”
A huge thank you to Jill for participating in our Inspiration Board Series. You can check out more of Jill’s amazing work at @JillLitnerKaplan / www.jilllitnerkaplan.com and be on the lookout for more Designer Inspiration Boards!
