Scared of bold patterns, bright colors, and designing the unexpected? Jocelyn Chiappone of Digs Design Company isn’t. Through extreme attention to detail and superior project management, Jocelyn is able to generate spaces that are both livable and extraordinary. The question she asks at the beginning of every project is “what is the client trying to achieve – a space infused with energy and brightness, or a peaceful respite from the outside world?” We happen to think the mudroom and the master bath she designed for this month’s Designer Inspiration Board achieve both.
Jocelyn’s stately chic master bathroom features Kallista’s Papion freestanding bathtub with Rohl’s polished nickel Viaggio tub filler. The tub filler matches perfectly with Rohl’s polished nickel Country Bath Acqui Deck Mounted Lavatory Bridge Faucet, which Jocelyn paired with Stone Forest’s carrara marble Vintage Washbasin. The legs of the sink are Palmer Industries’ Newport series in walnut with polished nickel. The toilet is Kohler ’s Memoirs Stately Compact Skirted Trapway, and its color and base are reminiscent of the Kallista bathtub.
No master bath is complete without a shower, and Jocelyn chose Kallista for the showerhead and all accessories. The shower is set up with the wall mount Raindome rain head, a soft modern multi-function hand shower, two modern body sprays, the Script thermostatic trim lever handles, three Script volume control levers, shower arm, and traditional wall bracket/supply elbow, all in polished nickel.
Kohler ’s Artifacts collection makes up the remainder of the polished nickel bathroom accessories – the Pivoting Toilet Paper Holder, the Double Robe Hook, and the Towel Ring and bar. Of course, Jocelyn had to throw in an unexpected accent color and daring pattern. To add a dramatic feel, she selected Leontine Linen’s yellow Terry Towels featuring the Maxwell appliqué monogram to compliment the wall tile behind the vanity. Akdo’s Essence Whimsy Sapphire Art Glass with Calacatta was the perfect final touch on this gorgeous coastal bathroom.
Industrial chic with dramatic color is how Jocelyn describes the more playful mudroom. Watermark’s Elan Deck Mount Faucet with Side Spray in aged brass pairs beautifully with Kohler ’s River Falls Utility Sink in ice gray. The Hudson Valley Curves aged brass lamp perfectly matches the brass Steam Punk vanity handles from Atlas Homewares. In typical Jocelyn style, she added in color and pattern. The cabinets provide a pop of color and are painted with Benjamin Moore’s High Gloss Gondola Ride. They look stunning against the patterned Thibauts Mori Green Wallpaper. The aged brass Watermark Faucet is compliments the gorgeous soapstone counters countertops from Marble & Granite.
It’s understandable to be hesitant to take the leap and use a pattern or vivid color in your home’s décor. However, if you have a professional like Jocelyn who listens to your needs, understands your vision, and has a knack for design, it will liven up your home’s atmosphere.
A huge thank you to Jocelyn for two wonderful Inspiration Boards. You can check out more of Jocelyn’s amazing work on Instagram at @DigsDesignCo and at DigsDesignCo.com, and be on the lookout for more Designer Inspiration Boards!
